2006 Intel Cup Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest

- Embedded System Design Invitational Contest

2004 Intel Cup Winners

In 2004, 106 teams from 56 invited universities, including 4 from Hong Kong and Singapore participated in the contest. Students were expected to define architecture, design function modules and optimize algorithm or performance using the Sitsang platform, which is based on the Intel® PXA255 processor with Intel XScale® Microarchitecture. The Intel Cup was awarded to two teams with the highest rated projects: team from Fudan University for the Portable Multimedia Center and team from Xidian University for the Black-box in Cars.

Portable Multimedia Center (Fudan University)

Students: Yang Cheng, Huang Wei, Zhao Jin

Mentor: Chen Guangmeng

Abstract: Nowadaysconsumer electronics enjoys strong growthwith aim at more types of mediasmaller form factorlarger storage space and ample expansion options. Based on existing resources of Sitsang boardthis product realized a portable multimedia center under Qtopia desktop environmentwhich integrated the “Portable Video”video and audio outputmass storagevideo on demand and online content download capabilities.

Black Box in Cars (Xidian University)

Students: Lin Min, Wang Ying, Gao Lanfang

Mentor: Fu Shaofeng

AbstractThe system is a new generation of black box in carsincorporating multiple technologiessuch as MPEG-4 encoding and decodingimage acquisitionwireless image transmissionGPS location. This car black box system has implemented many functionsincluding video evidencesatellite anti-theftwireless guarding against robberycar backing aid and voice mail.

The systemwith its good scalability and portabilitycan also be used in electronic guidersremote control systemsand IP video phones as well and car platform.
